View employees’ skills and invite them to share personal skills
Wallet publication vs sharing personal skills
Before going into operational details, it is important to distinguish the two ways in which a company can view an employee’s skills.
1. Skills visible through a published Wallet
If the employee publishes their Skill Wallet, a Skill Wallet button appears in their profile — in the Organizations module. By clicking it, the Talent Lead or Referent can:
- see all the skills stored in the employee’s personal Wallet (acquired skills, personal skills, experiences, learning outcomes);
- browse the full structure of their skill profile, including skills that were not explicitly requested by the company.
However:
- these skills do not enter the shared organizational area;
- they cannot be evaluated by the company unless they have been explicitly shared by the employee.
A published Wallet is therefore a read-only view, not a management tool.
2. Personal skills shared with the organization
For a personal skill to be treated like other company skills, it must be explicitly shared by the employee. When a skill is shared:
- it appears in the Other shared skills area visible to the organization;
- it can receive evaluations from Talent Leads or Referents;
- it can be used in HR processes (internal mobility, task forces, new responsibilities).
This method is more formal: the skill becomes part of the profile shared with the organization.
Overview of the differences
| Functionality | Skills visible from published Wallet | Skills shared with the organization |
|---|---|---|
| Visible to the organization | ✔️ Yes | ✔️ Yes |
| Can be evaluated | ❌ No | ✔️ Yes |
| Appears in the shared area | ❌ No | ✔️ Yes |
| Editable by the company | ❌ Never | ❌ Never |
| Requires an action by the employee | Yes (publishes Wallet) | Yes (shares skills) |
| Remains in the personal Wallet | ✔️ Always | ✔️ Always |
Why ask employees to share personal skills
Asking employees to share personal skills is useful when the company wants to:
- identify competencies that are not included in official qualifications;
- discover hidden talents or skills developed outside the work context;
- support internal mobility, task assignment, or team creation;
- enrich the company’s knowledge of the skills available in the organization.
How the Talent Lead can invite employees to share
There is currently no direct “request a skill” command in the platform, but the organization can still encourage employees to:
- share the skills they consider relevant for their role;
- publish their Wallet if they want to show all their competencies;
- share specific skills in view of internal projects or initiatives;
- keep their Wallet up to date with personal evidence that may be useful to the company.
Invitations to share can be made through internal communications, onboarding, periodic reviews, or direct requests from the Talent Lead.
Where the organization can see employees’ skills
1. Skills visible through Wallet publication
- In the employee’s profile there is a Skill Wallet button (visible only if the employee has published their Wallet).
- From there, the organization can see all skills, but cannot evaluate them.
2. Personal skills shared with the organization
- They are visible in the employee’s profile, under Other skills.
- They are clearly separated from the organization’s official skills.
- They can be evaluated and taken into account in HR processes.
What the organization can do with a personal shared skill
- View it in the shared area of the employee’s Wallet.
- Evaluate it formally if it is relevant.
- Consider it in internal mobility, task force creation, or new assignments.
- Use it as a basis to update or extend future qualifications.
Useful rules
- The organization cannot edit or delete personal skills.
- Only shared skills can be evaluated.
- If an employee removes sharing, the skill disappears from the shared area but remains in their personal Wallet.
- A published Wallet is a read-only view and does not replace explicit skill sharing.
